Hungary govt debt falls to 79.0pc of GDP at end-2013

debtHungary’s gross state debt, calculated at nominal value according to Maastricht criteria, fell to 79.0pc of GDP at the end of last year from 80.2pc at the end of September, the National Bank of Hungary said in a preliminary report. In nominal terms, the debt reached HUF 23,068bn at the end of 2013. The appreciation of the forint reduced the debt by HUF 38bn, while net borrowing raised it by HUF 17bn. Net state debt came to HUF 18,451bn or 63.2pc of GDP at the end of last year.
