Hungary’s maize harvest is set to reach 8-9m tonnes this year, up from 6.7m tonnes last year, the head of the National Grain Growers Association (GOSZ) told. Jozsef Vancsura said average yield per hectare was about 7 tonnes, thanks to favourable weather. The farm gate price of maize is around HUF 34,000-35,000 per tonne, only about half of that last year, he added.
