Hungary retail food market contracts

The decline registered in volume terms was 4pc in Q4 2009 and 3pc in Q1 2010 yr/yr. The European average was minus 2pc in Q4 2009, minus 1pc in Q1 this year and no change in Q2. In value terms yr/yr at current prices, the decline was 4pc in Hungary in Q1 after minus 1pc in Q4 2009. In Europe as a whole, the turnover increased 1pc in Q2 after rising 4pc in Q1 and 3pc in Q4 2009.
