European egg glut affects Hungarian farmers

ImportHungary’s egg farmers are suffering the effects of oversupply on European markets, business daily said. Many of the surplus eggs of other European farmers have ended up in Hungary, Poultry Products Council secretary Gyorgyi Molnar told the paper. The farm gate price for eggs is now HUF 16-18 apiece, under cost, while consumers pay around HUF 40, she added. The professional association expects its „Crown Egg” trademark programme to stabilise the domestic market in the long term, the paper said.
