Budapest to host annual IOSCO conference

nbWith a successful application by the National Bank of Hungary (NBH) Budapest will host the annual conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in 2018, the NBH said.

Takarekbank, grain farmers assoc sign cooperation agreement

zfHungary’s Takarekbank has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Association of Grain Farmers, the parties said. Under the agreement, Takarekbank will develop financing products tailored to grain farmers’ needs. It will also provide them with market information and forecasts. 

Poultry demand drops because of cheaper pork

pyFarmgate prices for poultry fell early in the year because of a drop in demand as consumers bought cheaper pork instead. Farm gate prices for whole chickens dropped 6pc year-on-year in January.

Hungary farm minister meets with Israeli counterpart

uaHungarian farm minister Sandor Fazekas met with his Israeli counterpart Uri Ariel in Budapest, the Agriculture Ministry said. The sides agreed on cooperation in the area of research and development, including the exchange of experts and a partnership between institutes in Hungary and the Volcani Centre, a farm research facility in Israel.

Farm ministry mulls milk VAT rate cut

gycHungary could cut the VAT rate on milk as part of a support package for the dairy industry, daily Magyar Nemzet said. The farm ministry believes a VAT cut for milk is necessary, state secretary Gyorgy Czervan told the paper.

Spar projects 10-15pc increase in pork sales

bcAustrian-owned supermarket company Spar Magyarorszag projects a 10-15pc increase in pork sales in its shops this year due to a substantial cut in the VAT on pork and the resulting fall in consumer prices, the company told.
