Farm ministry mulls milk VAT rate cut

gycHungary could cut the VAT rate on milk as part of a support package for the dairy industry, daily Magyar Nemzet said. The farm ministry believes a VAT cut for milk is necessary, state secretary Gyorgy Czervan told the paper. The reduction is part of a support plan the ministry is drafting and will propose to the government, he added. Hungary reduced the VAT rate on pork from 27pc to 5pc at the start of this year, sharply reducing pork prices for consumers and boosting sales.
