Farmers now sell their medium-size eggs for HUF 14-15 apiece on average, while consumers pay about HUF 28 for eggs in trays and HUF 32-36 for eggs in boxes, Mr Foldi said. Hungarian farmers produce about 2.5bn eggs a year and another 200m eggs are imported. The egg business in Hungary is worth an annual HUF 25bn-28bn.
