Hungerit revenue climbs to HUF 43bn in 2013

Hungarian poultry company Hungerit had revenue of about HUF 43bn last year, up from HUF 38bn in 2012. The company said it produced 1,660 tonnes of foie gras last year. More than 80pc was exported, and exports to France accounted for 70pc of the total. Earlier, foie gras exports accounted for 10pc of Hungerit’s revenue. Now the proportion has been more than halved because of the work of animal rights group Four Paws. Hungerit is making up for the lost income by selling more duck and broiler chickens. Hungerit accounts for 25-30pc of Hungary’s total foie gras output.
