Tesco leads Hungary retail food-seller market in 2010

Tesco was followed by Hungarian-owned CBA with revenue of HUF 555bn and Coop with revenue of HUF 510bn, Nielsen said, based on data published by the companies themselves as well as estimates. The top three places were unchanged from the year before. Next on the list was Spar with revenue of HUF 381.3bn, followed by Real with HUF 360bn. Among the big discount chains, both Lidl and Aldi advanced one place. Lidl came the seventh with turnover estimated to rise to HUF 221bn from HUF 191bn in 2009, and Aldi was placed 12th, with revenue rising from HUF 49.1bn to HUF 52.6bn, Nielsen estimated.
