Ministry cuts top-up for sugar beet farmers because of spending freezes

The HUF 1.98bn originally allocated for the top-up is being cut by HUF 800m this year because of spending freezes to maintain the fiscal balance, Mr Czervan said. The amount has already been paid out by sugar refinery Magyar Cukor to keep production going, he added. The top-up for next year will be raised by HUF 800m to HUF 2.78bn, Mr Czervan said.
