Hungary will not introduce Single Payment Scheme in 2010

Hungary has told EU officials that it will not adopt the SPS in 2010, Mr Graf said. President Laszlo Solyom asked the Constitutional Court in November 2008 to review legislation introducing the SPS after its approval by Parliament. He said the reference period on which subsidies would be paid would put farmers who started working their land at a later date at a disadvantage. Mr Graf said it was unbelievable that the court had not taken a decision on the matter in more than a year.
