Jordan open to adoption of GMOs

The director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Rady Altarwana, says the country “is open to the use of safe technology … such as biotech crops”. The ISAAA reports that Jordan’s food and drug administration director general Dr Rawashdeh added to the remarks. The country “should not remain afraid to try the technology in the midst of food insecurity”, he said. The comments came during the fourth international conference on genetically modified food, held in Amman, Jordan, in November.
