Strike at Cargill ends with concessions to workers

Employees picked up their work again after the American food giant promised that forced lay-offs will be kept to a minimum with the upcoming reorganisation. The plant in Amsterdam is about to be closed and 30 people would lose their job. Unions demanded that the fired workers would be promised a job at another Cargill site. Cargill has confirmed it will do its utmost to minimise the number of forced lay-offs and make sure that all fired workers will be considered for replacement. Employees were not only on strike the last five weeks, but also organised happenings to emphasise their demands. Such events included donkeys being posted in front of the office symbolising the stubbornness of the management, a tank was used and workers used dog barking to emphasis their worries.
