Unilever completes EUR 8m expansion at Hungary plant

Capacity of the plant was expanded by 80pc so Unilever can move some production from Western Europe to Hungary, Mr Azzara said. The plant delivers to 30 countries in Europe. Deliveries to Western Europe have risen to 40pc from 10pc earlier. About 160 people staff the plant, not including 40-80 temporary workers. In addition to its plant in Nyirbator, Unilever has a food plant in Roszke (SE Hungary) and an ice cream plant in Veszprem (NW Hungary). Unilever has its regional headquarters in Budapest. The three plants made products worth a combined HUF 75bn in 2007. Revenue of the plant in Nyirbator was EUR 140m-220m in 2008, Mr Azzara said, adding that data from the period was still being compiled.
