In January-April farm gate prices dropped 27.8pc from the same period a year earlier as crop prices fell 37.4pc and livestock prices decreased 4.1pc. In April farm gate prices for cereals fell 40.7pc as part of a trend reversal of a big price increase started in 2007, KSH noted. The price of oil seeds remained practically unchanged decreasing a 0.5pc. In April 2008, oil seed prices jumped 54.4pc yr/yr. Prices for potatoes rose 10.8pc, while fresh vegetable prices climbed just 0.8pc,. Farm gate prices for livestock rose 5.0pc, as hog prices rose 18.0pc, cattle prices climbed 13.6pc and poultry prices slid 8.8pc. Egg prices were up 10.6pc and milk prices were down 26.1pc yr/yr in April.
