Hungary trade surplus narrows to EUR 479m in April

The surplus narrowed after rising to new peaks in the previous two months. The pace of both exports and imports growth dropped from March, and the gap between exports and import growth narrowed further. The January-April trade surplus was EUR 2.551bn, up from EUR 1.912bn one year earlier. April exports totalled EUR 6.328bn and imports totalled EUR 5.849bn. April exports rose 13.2pc yr/yr after a 18.4pc rise in March, and import growth also slowed, to 13.9pc from 16.1pc in March. January-April exports reached EUR 26.350bn, rising 20.9pc in euro terms, and imports, at EUR 23.800bn, were up 19.7pc yr/yr in the period. The trade surplus for the full year of 2010 was EUR 5.525bn, up from EUR 3.74bn in 2009. KSH will publish a second reading of April figures, including details and volume changes, on June 30.
