Forint steadies on interbank market

hufThe forint was trading at 309.85 to the euro late Friday on the interbank forex market, up from 311.35 late Thursday. At 311.36 to the euro early Friday, the forint moved between 309.71 and 311.50, not far from an almost two-week low reached Thursday evening at 311.62.It was up 0.06pc on the week in euro terms after ending last week flat. It is down 4.07pc year-to-date, after falling 1.95pc over last year. The Hungarian currency, in line with the Budapest share market, was again hit by geopolitical worries, followed by some technical rebound Friday afternoon as global sentiment improved. The forint traded at 229.40 to the dollar, up from 230.31 late Thursday. On Friday, it moved between 229.09 and 230.42, a new more than six-month low. It was quoted at 255.05 to the Swiss franc, up from 256.49 late Thursday. Its range on Friday was 254.90 to 256.68, close to its almost two-week low at 256.75 Thursday evening.
