István Nagy at the Agricultural Offensive


The Minister of Agriculture has talked to leaders from several countries, covering a total market of $ 1.5 billion. István Nagy received the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, the Minister of Water of India and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In their bilateral talks with Eastern leaders, they discussed expanding trade opportunities and potential areas for cooperation in irrigation, and possible directions for their development.

Turkey and Hungary could be great opportunities for joint action on third markets, such as seeds, for meat, said Minister of Agriculture Bekir Pakdemirli during a meeting with the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, proposing a global seed supplier network to meet developing countries’ food needs in future. The parties also addressed issues of financial support for local farmers, strengthening the role of integration, and the possibilities of agricultural digitization technologies and research developments in Hungary and abroad. The ministers of the two countries also discussed possibilities and innovative solutions related to livestock and meat products.

Our agricultural relations with India need to be revitalized, said István Nagy. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture discussed possible cooperation with the Asian country’s water minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in the field of irrigation. The Hungarian government’s priority is to significantly increase irrigated areas. With India, there are good opportunities for cooperation on irrigation, so the ministry leader offered to exchange experience with the Indian side. The Indian side praised our country’s activities in the field of food processing and encouraged the exchange of technology and knowledge in this field as well. István Nagy offered the help of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and emphasized that we are regarded as an important Asian partner to India, with the aim of revitalizing the agricultural economy.

During a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Rajabi Yazdi Gholamali, the Minister of Agriculture said that Hungary is a major cereal producer and one of the world’s leading seed exporters. In addition, it has excellent, high-quality raw materials and processed products in vegetable and fruit production, which is why our portfolio attaches great importance to developing and expanding trade relations. The ministry leader indicated that there are Hungarian technology and experience in the field of mushroom cultivation, herb cultivation and animal feed that can be utilized in the Iranian market.
