World grain prices below 2008 peaks

Soaring grain prices since July have sparked concerns about the possible repeat of the 2008 food crisis with food riots in developing countries and panic buying in wealthier nations. „In early October, international (wheat) prices were 40 percent higher than a year earlier but remained 42 percent below their peak of 2008,” Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said in a report.
