Hungary 2013 grape harvest bigger than usual

Frittman JánosAbout 386,000 tonnes of grapes were harvested in Hungary in 2013, with yields averaging 6.9 tonnes per hectare, much higher than in recent years, winemaker Janos Frittmann said in Budapest.Mr Frittmann, deputy head of winemakers’ association HNT, said the grapes were used to make 2.66m hectolitres of wine. Hungary exports about 700,000 hectolitres of wine a year, while it imports more than 500,000 hectolitres.
