The rise came after a sharp decline in 2010, to HUF 35bn from HUF 140bn in 2009. Farmers spent a further HUF 26.5bn on parts in Q1-Q3, 16pc more than one year earlier. The number of tractors sold rose 78pc to 1,090, while sales of combines rose 150pc in the first nine months to 131. AKI said only about 10pc of machinery sold in Hungary is manufactured in the country.
