European Commission about the lands of European Union
The European Commission has started procedures before the European Court against decisions by EU farm ministers to extend the deadline for eliminating subsidised purchases of land from the end of 2009 for several member states, including Hungary, the court said. Hungary, as well as Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, extended the deadline for scrapping the subsidies until the end of 2013. EU farm ministers agreed to allow new EU member states to extend the deadline at a meeting last year.
