Fertiliser maker Nitrogenmuvek makes offer for Croatian peer

Hungarian artificial fertiliser maker Nitrogenmuvek has made a non-binding bid for Croatian peer Petrokemija, which is up for privatisation. The Czech company Agrogert and Austria’s Borealis are also in the running for Petrokemija. The Croatian government expects the buyer of the company to ensure continued production at the company and maintain headcount, Croatian daily Vecernji list said. Vecernji list learnt Nitrogenmuvek offered the most for the company. Sources close to the government told the paper that the government would accept the offer that included a promise to invest the most at the company. Agrogert has promised to put about EUR 200m into Petrokemija, double the amount Borealis promised, the paper said. The Croatian state wants to keep a 25pc-plus-one-share stake in Petrokemija.
