Hungarians working abroad transfer 1.8pc of GDP back home

Hungarians working abroad transferred the equivalent of USD 2.4bn to family back home in January-October of last year, data from the World Bank. The amount was equivalent to 1.8pc of GDP. The ratio was 1.4pc for Poles working abroad, 2.1pc for both Romanians and Slovakians, and 1.0pc for Czechs during the period. About 462,000 Hungarians, or 4.6pc of the population, have emigrated. The most popular destinations for them are Germany and the UK.
