Hungary farm gate prices fall 13.7pc in September

Farm gate prices in Hungary fell 13.7pc year-on-year in September after dropping 7.6pc in the previous month, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said. The price of crops fell 22.8pc, because of the improved harvest, but the price of livestock and animal products increased 4.6pc. Grain prices were 32.2pc lower. Prices of industrial crops were down 21.7pc, including a 24.6pc drop in the price of oil seeds. Potato prices jumped 57.0pc. The price of fresh vegetables increased 7.3pc but fruit prices edged down 0.1pc. Live cattle prices dipped 21.8pc, but hog prices increased 4.4pc and poultry prices were up 3.6pc. Egg prices fell 13.5pc and milk prices increased 20.6pc. In January-September, farm gate prices were unchanged year-on-year. Crop prices were down 2.6pc and live animal and animal product prices rose 4.8pc.
