Hungary opens new trade office in China

The Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency (ITD Hungary) said Hungarian companies have opportunities in the areas of individually developed products, special expertise and technology transfer, particularly in the environmental, water management and ICT sectors and in agriculture. Figures from the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show the value of Hungarian imports from China exceeded EUR 3.5bn last year down 14.6pc from 2008. The value of Hungarian exports, however, grew 16.1pc to almost EUR 875m last year. ITDH said on its website, quoting figures from the Chinese Trade Ministry (MOFCOM) that Hungarian companies invested a total of USD 36.5m in China in 2008, bringing the total amounted invested by the end of 2008 to close to USD 300m. This gives Hungary 46th place on the list of foreign investors in China.
