Hungary’s agricultural output rises 4.2pc this year

Preliminary invoice data indicates that Hungary’s agricultural output rose 4.2pc at current prices to HUF 2,265bn in 2014, Rural Development Ministry State Secretary Gyorgy Czervan announced. Mr Czervan said that the rise in output was due primarily to an increase in crop production. The state secretary noted that the increase in agricultural output contributed significantly to the quarter-on-quarter rises of Hungary’s GDP in the first three quarters of the year. In volume terms, Hungary’s farm output was 22pc up from last year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said in a preliminary assessment on Wednesday, adding that farm gate prices dropped 4.5pc on average in the first three quarters from a year ago, and they were 15.4pc lower in October from a year ago.
