In addition to slaughtering chickens and turkeys, Zalai Baromfifeldolgozo has started producing finished products as well, Managing Director Tibor Bedo said. The new plant, completed through greenfield investment, now employs more than 110 workers and processes 7,000 turkeys and 10,000-20,000 chickens per week. The plant will reach full-scale operation in the first quarter of 2012, when headcount will be raised to 200, the managing director added. They won HUF 625m in grants for the investment and covered the remainder from a bank loan. The company has agreements with retail chains CBA, Coop and Metro to distribute its products and exports some of its products to Slovenian, Croatian, Slovakian, Czech, German, Bulgarian and Romanian retailers.
