Russia drought may hit 2011 world wheat supply-FAO
Fears of a new global food crisis similar to that of 2007/2008 are not justified at present with the world stocks strong enough to cover expected production shortfalls after two consecutive years of record crops, the Food and Agriculture Organisation said in a statement. „On the other hand, should the drought in the Russian Federation continue, it could pose problems for winter plantings in that country with potentially serious implications for world wheat supplies in 2011/12,” the FAO said.
