The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) disagrees with the idea of a tax on farmland in any form. Many local councils plan to levy a tax on farmland after recently adopted amendments to tax legislation taking effect from January 2015 allow local municipalities to introduce a new tax on any item not falling under the scope of either central or local taxes. NAK said it has surveyed the plans of Hungary’s local municipalities regarding the farmland tax.

Hungerit completes HUF 1.7bn development project

Hungarian poultry company Hungerit has completed the construction of a new poultry logistics system worth HUF 1.7bn at its facilities at Szentes (SE Hungary). The investment was carried out with a HUF 250m grant from the European Union and the Hungarian government, said Jozsef Magyar the CEO-president of Hungerit.

Hungary farm gate prices fall 5.7pc in October

Farm gate prices in Hungary fell 5.7pc year-on-year in October, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said. Prices of crops fell 6.1pc, while prices of livestock and animal products were down 5.2pc. Grain prices were 7.3pc lower in October.
