Colleen Bell appointed US ambassador to Hungary
The United States Senate on Tuesday voted to approve the television producer Colleen Bradley Bell’s appointment as US ambassador to Hungary. The appointment was approved in a vote of 52 to 42. The Hungarian foreign ministry had granted its approval on Ms Bell’s appointment already last autumn. John McCain, a Republican senator and former US presidential candidate, addressed the congress before the vote, attacking Ms Bell’s candidacy. He said Ms Bell was a „totally unsuitable” nominee to be ambassador in Hungary, which is a „very important country where bad things are going on.”
