HUF 17.5bn regional waste management programme completed
A HUF 17.5bn waste management programme affecting 426,000 people in 313 towns in the Mecsek-Drava area of South Hungary has been completed. The programme was mostly financed by EU moneis. About 70pc of the 200,000 tonnes of waste produced in the region will be recycled and the remainder will be deposited according to EU regulations as a result of the programme, project manager Peter Merza said. Earlier more than four-fifth of the waste went without into depos, he said.
