Hungary farm gate prices climb 6.6 percent

Farm gate prices in Hungary rose 6.6 percent in July from the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said.

The price of crops rose 5.3 percent during the period. The price of live animal and animal products increased 9.3 percent. Among crops, fresh vegetable prices jumped 23.2 percent and fruit prices climbed 19.3 percent, but cereal prices rose just 1.0 percent. Hog prices were up 16.5 percent, live poultry prices increased 7.7 percent and the price of cattle for slaughter rose 16.8 percent. Farm gate prices rose 5.1 percent in January-July from the same period a year earlier. Crop prices edged up 1.7 percent and live animal and animal product prices increased 12.5 percent.
