Russia could lift ban on EU pork by March

Hungary January cashflow gen govt deficit HUF 75.4bn

Hungary 2013 grape harvest bigger than usual

Coca-Cola Hungary unit launches mineral water exports to Croatia

The Hungarian unit of Coca-Cola launched export production at its bottling plant in Zalaszentgrot, in the west of the country. Coca-Cola HBC Magyarorszag will export 10m litres of Bistra brand mineral water bottled at the plant to Croatia, said managing director Nikos Kalaitzidakis.

OTP Bank to buy small Italian-owned bank in Croatia

OTP Bank will buy Banco Popolare Croatiat (BPC), an Italian-owned bank that controls 0.56pc of Croatia’s banking market. Balazs Bekeffy, who heads OTP Bank’s existing Croatian unit, told the paper that OTP Bank had completed due diligence at BPC and would announce the acquisition on Tuesday – Croatian daily Vecernji list said.

Hungary farm gate prices fall 14.6pc in November

Farm gate prices in Hungary fell 14.6pc year-on-year in November, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said. Prices of crops fell 21.8pc, because of the improved harvest, and prices of livestock and animal products edged down 0.9pc. Grain prices were 31.5pc lower.

Hungary agriculture can count with HUF 725bn support

Hungary’s agriculture and food industry will get HUF 725bn in support this year, with HUF 150-160bn coming from the budget and the rest from EU sources, deputy secretary of state at the ministry of rural development, Zsolt Feldman, said.

Wine exports lift Danubiana revenue to EUR 11.5m

Hungarian vintner Danubiana’s net revenue rose by a little more than EUR 3m to EUR 11.5m last year as the German-owned company sold more wine on export markets, managing director Gyozo Schmidt said. Danubiana sold 120,000 hectolitres of wine last year. About 90pc was sold on markets in Germany, the UK and overseas.

Tenders for 2014-2020 EU funding could be called by mid-year

The first tenders for European Union funding available for the 2014-2020 budget period are expected to be called by the middle of this year, deputy state secretary for development programmes Nandor Csepreghy said at a conference.
